Woods, Wearing TaylorMade Apparel? Tiger Woods

On the 20th (local time), American golf media Golf Digest reported, "There are prospects regarding Woods' new clothing sponsorship through various social media accounts," adding, "TaylorMade's newly launched lifestyle brand ‘Sunday Red’ is highly likely to take on Woods' new clothing sponsorship." Woods' sponsorship contract with Nike ended earlier this month. He had been sponsored by Nike since his professional debut in 1996 and continued the relationship even after Nike effectively withdrew from the golf equipment business in 2016.

TaylorMade’s ‘Sunday Red’ features the initials ‘SDR’ along with an image resembling a tiger on a red background. Woods is famous for wearing a red top and black bottoms every Sunday, the final day of tournaments. Golf Digest explained, "This is a habit influenced by Woods' mother that he has maintained since his college days."

Woods' mother, Kultida, is from Thailand. In Thailand, red is considered a ‘powerful color.’ Since the name ‘Sunday Red’ is hard to think of without associating it with Woods, this interpretation strengthens the view that the brand has Woods in mind for the contract. Woods is expected to officially announce details regarding the clothing sponsorship contract ahead of the PGA Tour Genesis Invitational hosted by the Tiger Woods Foundation in February.
