Yangcheon-gu, 2 Million Won for First Child · 3 Million Won for Second... Expansion of 'First Meeting Voucher'

Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that it will expand the amount of the ‘First Meeting Voucher’ support fund starting this year to reduce the economic burden on families with newborns in the area.

Previously, a lump sum of 2 million KRW was provided as a voucher (card points) to newborns regardless of birth order, but starting from 2024 births, the first child will receive 2 million KRW, and the second child or later will receive an increased support amount of 3 million KRW according to birth order.

The eligibility for the First Meeting Voucher is newborns who are within one year from their date of birth as registered in the resident registration, and applications can be made by visiting the local community service center at the child’s registered address or online through the ‘Bokjiro’ or ‘Government24’ websites.

The application deadline is one year from the registered date of birth, and the usage period is the same. It should be noted that unused points will automatically expire after the usage period.

The voucher is provided as points on the National Happiness Card, and the child’s guardian can receive the points on their existing National Happiness Card or obtain a new National Happiness Card from financial institutions to use.

The provided points can be used in all industries except those unrelated to the purpose of payment, such as entertainment, gambling, and leisure industries, including online purchases.

Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “We hope that the expansion of the First Meeting Voucher will help ease the burden of childbirth and parenting even a little, and we will continue to strive to build various childcare support infrastructures so that Yangcheon-gu becomes a good place to have and raise children.”
