Gyeonggi-do, Emergency Quarantine Field Inspection in Paju ASF Outbreak Area Oh Hu-seok, Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi Province Administration 2, is visiting the African Swine Fever quarantine site and talking with on-site personnel.

On the 18th, the first case of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Gyeonggi Province this year occurred at a pig farm in Paju, Gyeonggi-do.

In response, Oh Hu-seok, the 2nd Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi Province, visited the control checkpoint at the affected farm on the 19th to conduct an emergency inspection of the quarantine site. He emphasized, "Initial quarantine measures such as movement restrictions, emergency culling, and disinfection are extremely important," and urged, "To prevent further spread, strict adherence to basic quarantine guidelines is necessary, and anyone showing suspicious symptoms should immediately report to the quarantine authorities."

As of this date, there have been 40 cases of African Swine Fever in South Korea. The recent case in Paju is the first occurrence in Gyeonggi Province in nine months since the outbreak on April 13 of last year.

To contain the spread, Gyeonggi Province has decided to urgently cull the pigs at the affected farm. Additionally, movement restrictions have been imposed on 57 pig farms within a 10 km radius, and surveillance and detailed inspections are underway.

Gyeonggi Province is mobilizing all available disinfection vehicles to focus on disinfecting the farm and surrounding roads, operating 36 key disinfection facilities and control checkpoints. Quarantine guidance and other blocking measures are also being carried out by 251 dedicated personnel assigned to pig farms across the province.

Earlier, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs issued a temporary movement suspension order for 48 hours from 6:30 PM on the 18th to 6:30 PM on the 20th, targeting pig farms, vehicles, and facilities in the Gyeonggi areas of Gimpo, Paju, Yeoncheon, Pocheon, Yangju, Goyang, and Dongducheon.

Violating the movement suspension order may result in imprisonment for up to one year or a fine of up to 10 million won under the Livestock Infectious Disease Prevention Act.
