Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, held the ‘World Heritage City! A New Leap!’ and ‘2024 Major Work Report Meeting’ for six days from the 11th to the 18th at the Ureuk Room of the county office, with department heads and team leaders attending.
At the report meeting chaired by County Governor Lee Nam-cheol, last year’s achievements were evaluated, including ▲the inscription of Jisandong Tumuli as a World Heritage site ▲aggressive investment attraction results such as eco-friendly clean energy power plants △early achievement of hometown love donation targets ▲the establishment of various infrastructures such as Daegaya Historical Park and Aijoa Dream Playground, as well as ▲the selection of the ‘Daegaya Festival’ as a ‘Korea Cultural Tourism Festival’ by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism ▲winning the ‘Prime Minister’s Award’ at the 16th Korea Local Finance Awards, among 52 award categories, and securing 62 national and provincial government budgets. Based on these achievements, the major work plans for the second year of the 8th elected administration were shared, and detailed discussions on new and priority projects were conducted.
Specific promotion goals and policy tasks to achieve the county administration goals of a young and strong Goryeong were identified, and by closely reviewing the work of each department, issues in project implementation were pinpointed and countermeasures to resolve them were also discussed.
This year, Goryeong-gun plans to mark the first year of the World Heritage project by actively developing a historical and cultural city utilizing public interest in the Jisandong Tumuli and initiating the development of Nakdong River ecological tourism resources. It will also focus all efforts on expanding the regional economy through active investment attraction and creating new residential complexes as a hinterland for the Daegu metropolitan mega-city.
After the report meeting, Goryeong-gun invited external experts to share key contents of the government budget to secure national and provincial funds, analyze public contest projects by ministry and sector, and identify tasks, planning to put all efforts into expanding the 2024 national and provincial financial resources and budget management, which are more challenging than ever.
Governor Lee Nam-cheol said, “Since this report meeting marks the halfway point of the 8th elected administration’s term, it is time to closely review the progress of major projects and accelerate their implementation,” and added, “In this era of crisis, I hope all staff will do their best with a creative and innovative attitude to achieve sustainable development results for Goryeong.”
