Overnight Stays of 2+ Days Prefer Gangwon-do, Men in Their 50s, Fridays
'Reservation for men in their 40s in the metropolitan area on Sundays.'
These are the tendencies of golfers who made the most same-day reservations through golf course platforms last year. XGOLF, a domestic golf booking platform with a cumulative membership of 1.12 million, recently released the 2023 golf course usage report. Usage types were classified into 'same-day reservations' for one-day rounds and 'domestic tours' consisting of packages including rounds and accommodations for two or more days.
For same-day reservations, men accounted for an overwhelming 84.9%, while women made up 15.1%. The day of the week with the highest golf course usage was Sunday (16.0%), followed by Saturday (15.9%), Friday (14.9%), Monday (13.6%), Wednesday (13.4%), and Tuesday and Thursday (both 13.1%). By age group, those in their 40s ranked first with 45.0%, followed by those in their 50s (33.7%), 60s (11.3%), 30s (7.3%), 20s and below (1.4%), and 70s and above (1.3%).
Booking competition in the metropolitan area was intense. Last year, the same-day reservation rate by region showed the metropolitan area at 69.5%, the region most used by XGOLF platform users. Following the metropolitan area were Chungcheong Province (16.3%), Gangwon Province (10.8%), Gyeongsang Province (1.6%), Jeolla Province (1.1%), and Jeju Island (0.6%). It was followed by Chungcheong Province (29.1%), Jeolla Province (13.3%), Gyeongsang Province (12.3%), Jeju Island (8.5%), and the metropolitan area (0.1%). The gender usage rate was 78.5% male.
