Lao Smart Mobility (LSM), a joint venture between LVMCHoldings and Coconut Silo, surpassed 100,000 cumulative subscribers and 150,000 completed rides just two months after launching Kokkok Move in Laos last November. Considering that Vientiane has a population of about 870,000, this represents a high growth rate.
The joint venture Lao Smart Mobility is focusing on securing loyal customers and attracting new ones by increasing customer touchpoints and offering differentiated benefits through various events and special promotions reflecting Laotian culture.
Kokkok Move by Lao Smart Mobility is an eco-friendly integrated mobility platform based on the three-wheeled electric tuk-tuk (EV Tuk Tuk) independently developed by LVMCHoldings. By providing transportation services such as taxi hailing, quick delivery, parcel delivery, shipping, and freight transport at reasonable prices, it addresses pain points in Laos such as poor public transportation infrastructure, opaque fare systems, and safety issues.
Kokkok Move also participated in the ‘2024 Digital Week’ hosted by The Ministry of Technology and Communications of Laos on the 10th.
Through Kokkok Move, Laotian consumers can conveniently hail taxis anytime and anywhere. The recording of travel routes and times enhances safety, and real-time route tracking combined with predetermined fares ensures price transparency, allowing tourists to use the service comfortably.
To meet diverse customer demands, Kokkok Move has expanded its service vehicles beyond three-wheeled electric tuk-tuks to include EV SUVs and four-wheeled vehicles. These service vehicles are introduced in collaboration with LVMCHoldings’ rental car division and managed through direct operation to maintain service quality. Directly employed drivers receive systematic training programs to ensure expertise in regulatory and legal compliance, consistent service quality, and customer communication.
Additionally, Lao Smart Mobility strives to make the service convenient for users through continuous software updates and innovations. In line with the recent increase in tourists visiting Laos, the platform’s supported languages have been expanded to include Korean, following English, Chinese, Lao, and Thai.
Going forward, Lao Smart Mobility plans to continue differentiating its services by expanding delivery service areas through exclusive logistics service contracts with KOKKOK Mini Mart and J Mart.
Han Taewon, CEO of Lao Smart Mobility, stated, “We expect to expand the introduction of new vehicles to 2,500 units this year and plan to focus on accelerating the business in earnest. We aim to expand service areas beyond Vientiane to other regions in Laos and neighboring countries such as Thailand within the year. We have already signed an MOU with the Udon Thani Chamber of Commerce in Thailand regarding the entry of Kokkok Move services and the provision of eco-friendly mobility services.”
