Including the animation 'Seokeul'
Several Korean films are heading to Berlin one after another.
Earlier, it was announced on the 18th by each distributor that the 4th installment of "The Outlaws," which previously attracted 10 million viewers consecutively for its 2nd and 3rd parts, the film "Pamy?" (director Jang Jae-hyun) starring actor Choi Min-sik, the movie "It's Okay, It's Okay, It's Okay!", and the animation "Circle" have been invited to the 74th Berlin International Film Festival opening on the 15th of next month.
"The Outlaws 4" depicts detective Ma Seok-do (Ma Dong-seok) returning to confront villain Baek Chang-gi (Kim Mu-yeol), a special forces mercenary leading a large-scale online illegal gambling organization, CEO Jang Dong-cheol (Lee Dong-hwi), a genius in the IT industry, and Jang Yi-soo (Park Ji-hwan), who comes back to join forces with the Metropolitan Investigation Unit's cyber team in a crime eradication operation. The film was invited to the Berlinale Special Gala section, a non-competitive category showcasing new works that combine artistic quality and entertainment value. Previous Netflix OTT films such as "Time to Hunt" and "Kim Bok-soon" have also been invited to this section.
"Pamy?" (2015), where actor Choi Min-sik meets director Jang Jae-hyun of "The Priests," portrays strange incidents occurring to a geomancer, mortician, and shaman who relocate suspicious graves for a large sum of money. The film was invited to the Forum section, which screens films with original, challenging colors and individuality. This section previously invited films such as Bong Joon-ho's "Snowpiercer" (2013) and Kim Tae-yong's "Late Autumn" (2011).
The drama director Kim Hye-young's debut film "It's Okay, It's Okay, It's Okay!" was invited to the Generation section. It tells the story of a girl who, after losing her mother, stays in the basement of a dance academy without a home and is discovered by a choreographer.
Director Jung Yu-mi's animation "Circle" was invited to the short film competition section. Director Jung has been invited to the Berlin International Film Festival four times, including for "Math Exam" and "House of Existence," and now with "Circle."
The Berlin International Film Festival is considered one of the world's top three international film festivals alongside the Cannes and Venice Film Festivals. This year, it will be held in Berlin, Germany, for ten days from the 15th to the 25th of next month.
