Seongnam Mayor Shin Sang-jin is visiting the Sunnaegyo site on the 18th and receiving an explanation from an official.
Shin Sang-jin, mayor of Seongnam City, visited Sunnaegyo Bridge in Bundang-gu at 2 p.m. on the 18th to inspect the facility after reinforcement work was completed and traffic was resumed.
Mayor Shin said, "I thank the citizens for enduring the traffic inconvenience that occurred during this time," and added, "In the future, the full reconstruction of Sunnaegyo Bridge will be carried out without restricting traffic and maintaining the current 8-lane function to reduce inconvenience to citizens."
He also added, "We will do our best to make Seongnam a safe city."
Earlier, Seongnam City took full usage restriction measures on Sunnaegyo Bridge based on an emergency detailed safety inspection conducted in August last year. As a result, all vehicles that used to cross Sunnaegyo Bridge took detours via nearby Seohyeon Bridge and Baekhyeon Bridge.
However, as the inconvenience to users of the existing Sunnaegyo Bridge continued, Seongnam City decided to reopen the bridge temporarily after securing structural safety by installing temporary support structures between the piers and abutments based on the detailed safety inspection results.
