Establishing Response Systems for Various Situations Ahead of SR and GTX-A Opening

Operation of Emergency Response Headquarters from Sales Test Drive

SR, the operator of the Suseo High-Speed Train (SRT), announced on the 18th that it has established a rapid response process for exceptional situations ahead of the prioritized opening of the Suseo-Dongtan section of the Greater Seoul Metropolitan Area Express Railway (GTX) Line A at the end of March.

This is in preparation for a significant increase in train operations as SRT and GTX will jointly use the track section from Suseo Junction to Dongtan Station (approximately 28 km). SR began establishing the exceptional situation response process last year and held an inspection meeting chaired by CEO Lee Jong-guk on the 15th of this month to set up the response system process.

The response system process includes a company-wide response framework for all possible situations in the shared SRT-GTX section, such as ▲ rapid normal operation measures according to vehicle failure scenarios by location and condition ▲ track switch and signal failures ▲ infrastructure failures like catenary power outages ▲ optimized train operation handling plans in case of delayed train arrivals. It also includes emergency response training plans.

The GTX Line A project is currently undergoing facility verification testing and will begin commercial trial operations from mid-next month. SR plans to operate an emergency response headquarters from the start of commercial trial operations to thoroughly prepare for the opening and to further strengthen cooperation with related organizations.

CEO Lee Jong-guk stated, "We will continuously review the response process to identify areas for improvement and enhance our response capabilities through internal simulation training, doing our best to ensure the successful opening of GTX Line A and the safe use of railways by the public."
