Contact Lenses Considering Corneal Curvature...Selectable According to Eye Shape

Global eye healthcare company Johnson & Johnson Vision Korea's contact lens brand Acuvue has released a new advertisement for ‘Acuvue Oasis One Day,’ which features two base curve designs.

Acuvue planned the new advertisement to raise awareness among consumers who purchase contact lenses without considering their corneal curvature about the necessity of wearing contact lenses that fit the shape of their eyes. Created under the concept of ‘a fit for my eyes,’ the ad indirectly and directly conveys the message that Acuvue Oasis One Day provides a comfortable fit and clarity through its two unique lens designs.

According to domestic optometry and contact lens textbooks, wearing contact lenses with a base curve that does not match the shape of one’s eye can cause discomfort. In particular, many Asians tend to have flatter and more gradual corneal shapes. Therefore, it is important to check the shape of one’s eye through an eye exam and select contact lenses with an appropriate base curve to ensure comfortable wear and clear vision.

‘Acuvue Oasis One Day,’ which provides moisture as a basic feature and clarity as well, offers two lens designs: an 8.5 base curve for bulging eyes and a 9.0 base curve for flatter eyes, allowing users to choose according to their eye shape. Additionally, with the application of HydraLuxe technology, it reduces tear evaporation and stabilizes the tear film, maintaining moisture throughout the day.
