Jeonnam-Jeonbuk Commitment to Strengthen Win-Win Cooperation

Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, issued a statement on the 18th welcoming the launch of the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, pledging to strengthen win-win cooperation between Jeollanam-do and Jeonbuk, which share historical and cultural roots.

Governor Kim said, “I congratulate Kim Kwan-young, Governor of Jeonbuk, and the people of Jeonbuk for their wholehearted efforts leading up to the historic launch of the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province,” adding, “At a time when the government and local governments are joining forces to ensure that local regions develop differentiated competitiveness and become new growth engines of the Republic of Korea, the launch of the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province will serve as a signal accelerating the realization of a true local era.”

He continued, “Since it has been granted a high degree of autonomy and various special privileges to foster future industries, I hope it will establish itself as a successful model of a ‘livable local era’ and become a new turning point for the development of Honam.”

He also stated, “Jeollanam-do will wholeheartedly support the new start of the ‘Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province,’ which has long shared proud Honam history as one root in terms of history and culture,” adding, “Let us join hands to vigorously open a shining local era and a global Honam era that leaps onto the world stage.”
