Im Jong-seok "Han Dong-hoon’s ‘86 Hegemony’ Criticism, Unless There’s a Complex..."

Han Dong-hoon, the emergency committee chairman of the People Power Party, stated that the "'86 Undongkwon hegemonism' must be eradicated," prompting former Blue House Chief of Staff Lim Jong-seok to directly respond, saying, "If you don't have a complex from not having a conscience during the military regime era, I hope you wouldn't say such things." Lim, a former chairman of the 3rd National Council of Student Representatives (Jeondaehyeop), is considered a representative '86 Undongkwon politician.' He is preparing to run for the Seoul Jungseong-dong Gap constituency in the general election.

On the 18th, Lim appeared on MBC Radio's "Kim Jong-bae's Focus" and, when asked by the host about Han Dong-hoon's claim to eradicate Undongkwon hegemonism, said, "You shouldn't engage in such a bad frame politics."

Lim also referenced the film Spring in Seoul. He said, "I don't know if Chairman Han has seen that movie, which over 10 million people have watched," adding, "I didn't jump into activism by choice. It was because the military coup forces invaded and destroyed our daily lives. I was scared and wanted to run away, but I endured and fought." He noted, "I see Chairman Han is from the class of '92," and retorted, "Didn't you immediately start studying for the civil service exam to get ahead during the military regime?" Lim added, "Having a sense of remorse toward friends and seniors and juniors who attended school in the same era is a matter of human decency."

Regarding the movement to form a 'third party,' he said, "We need to see how it progresses," but also stated, "I often say that true victory is to endure and win from within without leaving. Those who have left the party are probably experiencing how much harder the reality is."

Earlier, Han Dong-hoon, the emergency committee chairman of the People Power Party, emphasized the need to "eradicate the privileged politics of the Undongkwon" as his inaugural statement. On the 26th of last month, during his acceptance speech at the central party office in Yeouido, Seoul, he said, "We must prevent the ruling party's reckless actions from ruining the country's present and future. We must eradicate the privileged politics of the Undongkwon that reigns over and tries to lecture the people."
