Gangnam-gu Opens First Public-Private Partnership Digital Job Center for Middle-Aged Adults Among Autonomous Districts

Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) has established the first public-private partnership Digital Job Center for the New Middle-aged Generation (343 Hakdong-ro, Basement Level 2) among autonomous districts and held an opening ceremony on the 17th.

Due to population aging, those aged 40 to 64, between the elderly aged 65 and over and young people in their 20s and 30s, are called the "New Middle-aged Generation." This generation, which accounts for the largest proportion of 37.1% (3.48 million people) of Seoul's population, is supported by the district to work in the digital new industry sector. In September, the district signed a business agreement with Hana Financial Group. By jointly establishing and operating a center that supports digital professional education and job linkage for the new middle-aged generation, the two organizations plan to create synergy effects from job support projects that were previously operated separately by each institution.

The district, together with Hana Financial Group, carried out remodeling construction from September to October last year and completed the center in November. The center has an area of 230.3㎡ (69.7 pyeong) and consists of two training rooms, a co-working lounge, and a counseling room. The center is conveniently accessible as it is directly connected underground without exiting Gangnam-gu Office Station.

Before the opening ceremony, educational courses have been operated since November last year with the sponsorship of Hana Financial Group. Currently, six courses are being offered to about 200 people, including commercial tester training and digital literacy instructor training. After the opening ceremony, the two organizations will jointly operate the center and plan to expand more detailed digital education courses.

Additionally, they will provide customized comprehensive job support services such as ▲job fairs and internships for employment support ▲entrepreneurship education ▲life redesign ▲club activities and other social and cultural activity support.

Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “Until now, job support has focused on youth and the elderly, but as life expectancy increases, new job education is needed for the new middle-aged generation to plan the latter half of their lives.” He added, “We will continue to build a sustainable cooperative system with Hana Financial Group and do our best to make this a model case of public-private cooperation.”
