Gangbuk-gu Mayor Lee Soon-hee, Engages in Communication by Visiting Various Village Spots

Lee Soon-hee, the Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, will embark on a communication campaign with residents to welcome the Year of the Gapjin in 2024.

Gangbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) announced that from the 17th to the 25th, it will hold the ‘Visiting New Year Village Greetings’ event to exchange New Year’s greetings and communicate with residents in celebration of the 2024 Year of the Gapjin.

This ‘Visiting New Year Village Greetings’ will be conducted by Mayor Lee Soon-hee personally visiting key facilities in 13 neighborhoods. Unlike the formal ‘Neighborhood New Year Meetings’ previously held at community centers, this event aims to create a space for broad consensus with residents and to realize participatory and communicative administration.

The visit locations include ▲senior citizen centers ▲police substations ▲local children’s centers ▲comprehensive childcare support centers ▲gateball courts ▲traditional markets ▲daycare centers ▲youth centers, selected to enable communication with a wide range of age groups from elders to young children. In particular, to show respect to local elders, one senior citizen center per neighborhood is mandatorily included as a visit location to deliver New Year’s greetings.

Mayor Lee Soon-hee began the New Year village greeting schedule on the 17th at 10 a.m. by visiting facilities in Samyang-dong. As the first event, she visited the Samyang-dong Community Center and informally communicated with about 70 residents taking aerobics classes through the community hall program, then encouraged the Samyang-dong Reserve Forces Unit and community center staff.

At the Samyang-dong police substation, she listened to the difficulties faced by the police officers responsible for local security, and at the Cheongam Senior Citizen Center in Samyang-dong, she heard opinions closely related to the elders’ daily lives and reviewed improvement plans. From 2 p.m., she visited Wonsong Senior Citizen Center and the local children’s center in Songjung-dong to offer New Year’s well-wishes.

The mayor plans to continue the New Year village greetings in the following order: ▲18th Insu-dong and Beon 2-dong ▲19th Mia-dong ▲22nd Samgaksan-dong and Beon 3-dong ▲23rd Suyu 1-dong and Suyu 3-dong ▲24th Beon 1-dong and Ui-dong ▲25th Songcheon-dong and Suyu 2-dong, communicating with residents throughout.

Mayor Lee Soon-hee said, “In 2024, the Year of the Gapjin, we will focus on Gangbuk-style development and actively implement policies that can empower residents’ lives. We will always listen carefully to the voices of our residents and maintain our original intention to carry out trustworthy district administration.”
