Gu, Starting This Year, 1 Million Won Congratulatory Payment for Long-Lived Seniors Aged 99
For Seniors Residing in Seocho-gu for Over 1 Year... Retroactive Congratulatory Payment Also for Seniors Aged 100 and Above This Year
Gu Mayor Jeon Seong-su, “We Will Create ‘Seocho Where Aging Is Enjoyable’ for Seniors to Enjoy a Vibrant and Happy Old Age”
Jeon Seong-su, Mayor of Seocho District, visited two households of long-lived elderly residents in Bangbae 3-dong and Yangjae 1-dong on the 17th to deliver congratulatory cards and information on longevity celebration funds, offering warm regards.
The mayor's visit to the elderly households was an event to personally explain the district’s ‘Longevity Elderly Celebration Fund’ support project, which provides 1 million KRW to elderly residents aged 99 and above starting this year, aiming to celebrate the longevity of the elderly together with the local community and foster a culture of respect for the elderly.
One elderly resident visited that day said, “I consider it a great blessing to have stayed healthy until this age, and I am grateful that Seocho District personally came to greet me and is providing a congratulatory fund,” smiling brightly.
The eligibility for the longevity celebration fund is for elderly residents aged 99 or older who have been registered and lived in Seocho District for more than one year. Applications can be submitted within one year from the month the resident turns 99 years old (born in 1925) at the local community service center by the elderly person themselves or by an authorized family member.
In the first year of payment, the district decided to retroactively provide the celebration fund to elderly residents aged 100 and above. Currently, those aged 100 or older can apply until December 20 of this year.
Additionally, the district plans to visit eligible elderly residents directly this month to deliver information notices and explain the application process.
Meanwhile, in line with the aging society trend, the district is steadily working to create a city where the elderly are respected by promoting the construction of the nation’s largest advanced elderly welfare facility, the ‘Seocho-type Complex Welfare Town,’ and implementing projects such as the ‘Active Smart Senior Project’ including IT experience zones, senior creator training, and smart AI schools, as well as the ‘Senior Job Project’ that supports healthy social activities.
Jeon Seong-su, Mayor of Seocho District, said, “This expresses our gratitude and respect for the sacrifices and dedication of the elderly who have gifted us today’s prosperous daily lives,” adding, “We will promote substantial projects to help the elderly enjoy a vibrant and happy old age and create ‘Seocho, where aging is joyful.’”
