Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Park Woo-ryang) has welcomed over 1.5 million tourists to Purple Island since the opening of the Cheonsa Bridge in 2019 through last year.

According to the county on the 17th, Purple Island has been selected as an Outstanding Tourism Village by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and has already become well-known as a must-visit place for anyone who likes the color purple.

Visiting Purple Island wearing matching purple clothes with family, lovers, or various groups has now become a kind of trend.

To celebrate the New Year 2024, Shinan-gun presented the 1004th tourist wearing purple clothes with a bouquet along with a purple hat, scarf, umbrella, and other small gifts to create good memories on Purple Island, and took commemorative photos.

The main tourist of this event was a family from Siheung, Gyeonggi-do, who visited with their children during the school vacation and took unforgettable memories from Purple Island.

A county official stated, “We plan to offer various attractions to tourists visiting Purple Island by promoting diverse events.”
