Agreement Signed for Resident-Participatory Sillim Wind Power Complex Development
Expectations for Local Economic Growth and Renewable Energy Infrastructure Expansion
Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk Province (Governor Son Byeong-bok) signed a business agreement on January 16 with LS ELECTRIC, Korea Sinlim Wind Power, and representatives of Sinlim Village to establish the Uljin Sinlim Wind Power Complex.
The Uljin Sinlim Wind Power Complex will be developed as a community participation model, where local residents living within a certain distance from the power generators participate as investors and share the power generation profits.
This agreement is expected to drive the realization of carbon neutrality in the era of climate crisis, promote mutual cooperation with local residents, and contribute to regional economic development and the establishment of renewable energy infrastructure.
The main points of this business agreement include ▲ investing approximately 127 billion KRW to build a 40MW wind power complex ▲ early project promotion and prevention of forest fire damage ▲ cooperation to increase local residents' income through a community participation model.
Governor Son Byeong-bok stated, “Uljin-gun is striving to prepare new energy sources for the climate crisis era through the national nuclear hydrogen industrial complex,” adding, “Through this agreement, we will discover sustainable energy sources and lay the foundation for the co-growth of nuclear and renewable energy.” He also said, “When the ‘Special Act on the Activation of Distributed Energy’ is enforced in June this year, we will actively cooperate in establishing the wind power complex to utilize distributed energy and achieve co-growth with local industries.”
