Prime Minister Han Duck-soo stated on the 16th (local time) at the World Economic Forum annual meeting (Davos Forum) held in Davos, Switzerland, that "Korea will strive as a leading country in nuclear power to contribute to sustainable development."

According to the Prime Minister's Office, Prime Minister Han arrived in Davos that morning and attended two forum sessions focused on nuclear power and artificial intelligence. Afterwards, he held a bilateral meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and met with representatives of global companies such as Vestas and Cisco.

At the "New Nuclear Power" session, Prime Minister Han spoke as a leading speaker, stating that Korea will work as a leading country in nuclear power to realize decarbonization, strengthen energy security, and contribute to sustainable development through nuclear power.

He also pointed out the importance of nuclear power in responding to climate change and enhancing energy security, emphasizing that Korea has excellent technology and abundant experience throughout the entire nuclear power plant construction cycle, having successfully completed more than 30 domestic and UAE Barakah nuclear power plants since 1972.

Prime Minister Han encouraged the international community to participate in the Carbon-Free Energy (CFE) initiative, which President Yoon Suk-yeol proposed last September during the UN General Assembly to promote the international use of carbon-free energy.

Following this, Prime Minister Han participated as a panelist in the session titled "AI: The Great Equaliser?" where he discussed with key policymakers and entrepreneurs.

He pointed out that the AI gap could become a serious global issue in the near future and emphasized that the international community should work together to share the benefits of AI with developing countries.

In particular, he stated that Korea aims to create a practical foundation for more countries worldwide to understand and utilize the possibilities and potential of AI through hosting the 2nd AI Safety Summit and the Global AI Forum.

He also engaged in sales diplomacy by meeting with CEOs of global companies.

During his meeting with Henrik Andersen, Chairman of Vestas, the world's number one wind turbine company, Prime Minister Han welcomed Vestas' recent relocation of its Asia-Pacific regional headquarters to Seoul and discussed ways to expand investment.

Meeting with Chuck Robbins, Chairman and CEO of Cisco, a leading American wired and wireless communication and network equipment company, they discussed cooperation plans related to cybersecurity and digital talent development.
