On the 16th, CJ Logistics announced that it awarded a letter of appreciation to delivery driver Jeong, who discovered a house fire during delivery work and prevented major damage through swift initial action. Jeong, who has been working as a CJ Logistics delivery driver for three years in Beondong, Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, noticed smoke rising from a house while passing through a residential alley on the 4th of last month and rushed to the fire scene.

Jeong immediately shouted "Fire!" to alert the people inside the house and took a fire extinguisher from his delivery vehicle to spray the roof. When the fire flared up again and one extinguisher was not enough to put it out, he obtained another extinguisher nearby and sprayed it from the adjacent house about 40 to 50 cm away. When Jeong ran in with a third extinguisher, firefighters arrived. Covered in white ash, he calmly pushed a cart loaded with delivery boxes and returned to his vehicle. The fire was reported to have been completely extinguished by the arriving firefighters.

Jeong’s actions became known later through word of mouth in the neighborhood. Jeong said, "I just did what was natural, so I didn’t feel the need to announce it. Anyone who saw the smoke would have run in." He added, "Because I had received fire safety training from the company and was familiar with safety protocols during a fire, I was able to respond quickly."

Jeong, who watched the fire suppression process at the scene until the fire was fully extinguished, said, "I couldn’t finish all my deliveries that day, but if the same thing happens again, I would act the same way." He also said, "I will take this experience as an opportunity to serve as a neighborhood guardian who delivers safety along with packages as a delivery driver."
