District Conducts Inspection and Sampling Tests of Seasonal Food Products Until February 2
Targeting Food Hygiene Businesses and Livestock Handling Establishments Manufacturing and Selling Seasonal Foods
Checks on Storage and Sale of Expired Products, Food Hygiene, and Operator Compliance
ATP Tests for Simple Contamination at Instant Sales Manufacturing and Processing Businesses
Dobong-gu is strengthening hygiene management for seasonal foods ahead of the Seollal holiday.
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that it will conduct inspections on about 260 locations, including instant sales manufacturing and processing businesses, food service establishments, and livestock product handlers that manufacture and sell ritual foods and other items with high consumption during the Seollal holiday, until February 2.
The main inspection items include ▲ storage and sale of products past their consumption date ▲ hygienic handling of food ▲ compliance by business operators ▲ adherence to the livestock traceability system ▲ violations such as mislabeling Hanwoo beef.
Minor violations found during inspections will be corrected on-site, while serious violations will be dealt with according to relevant regulations.
For instant sales manufacturing and processing businesses handling edible oils, snacks (Hangwa), and others, a simplified contamination (ATP) test will be conducted, and business operators will be guided on hygienic food handling management so they can check the results on-site.
Additionally, sampling inspections will be conducted on seasonal foods and popular gift distribution foods and livestock products. If the inspection results are deemed non-compliant, administrative actions will be taken immediately.
Furthermore, along with guidelines for preventing food poisoning, publicity will be carried out regarding the ‘Consumption Date Labeling System’ implemented from January 1 this year. The consumption date is a consumer-centered labeling system indicating the safe period for consumption if the storage methods indicated on the food are followed.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “We will do our best to manage hygiene and safety at businesses handling seasonal foods so that all residents can purchase safe food before the Seollal holiday.”
