Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that the space under Sinjeonggyo Bridge over Anyangcheon has been transformed into a new waterfront night view attraction through the "Night View Improvement Project," which enables lighting displays with various colors.
The area under Sinjeonggyo Bridge, the only public parking lot with a capacity of 300 cars along Anyangcheon, is located in the "Anyangcheon Family Garden" zone, which is densely packed with a soccer field, baseball field, rose garden, water play area, lawn plaza, and a pet rest area, making it the most frequented spot.
In particular, many residents visit for walks and exercise even at night, but relatively monotonous lighting was installed under the bridge, raising the need for night view improvement.
Accordingly, the district invested 235 million KRW secured through the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s public contest for night view improvement projects on four major tributaries, and carried out the lighting construction under Sinjeonggyo Bridge for about two months starting in the second half of last year.
Gobo lights projecting images symbolizing the four seasons of Anyangcheon?cherry blossoms, roses, reeds, and snow?illuminate the bridge piers, while about 30 colors of background lighting shine under the bridge, creating a spectacular seasonal scene every minute.
Additionally, floor lighting displaying pet etiquette messages using the district’s official character "Bolbbangbbang Haewoori" and promotional images of Anyangcheon Park were installed for visitors to enjoy while passing through.
Above all, since Anyangcheon frequently floods during heavy rains every year, the district installed the lights higher than the planned flood level during the construction to prepare for flooding.
Furthermore, a remote control system was introduced for natural lighting effects and smooth maintenance.
The operating hours of the night view lighting under Sinjeonggyo Bridge are from sunset until 11 p.m., running continuously.
Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “Through this night view improvement project, I hope the space under Sinjeonggyo Bridge will establish itself as a key cultural space that provides diverse sights and relaxation to residents, serving as a foothold for spreading a healthy leisure culture along Anyangcheon.”
