Road Restoration Work 95% Complete
All Projects Scheduled for Completion in July
Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 17th that the road and sidewalk excavation work for the installation of electric and communication cable conduits in the section from Hamyang Intercity Bus Terminal to Dolbukgyo Bridge, as part of the undergrounding project of power lines in Hamyang-eup, is entering its final stage.
According to the county, the undergrounding project in Hamyang-eup is a project to underground electric and communication distribution lines over a 1 km section from Hamyang Intercity Bus Terminal to Dolbukgyo Bridge.
So far, the overall construction progress rate is 75%, with road restoration expected to be completed this month. Of the 11 branch roads connected to the main road, conduit installation has been completed in 10 locations, with installation work remaining in front of Seongsim Hospital from the 16th to the 17th.
The county plans to complete the installation and replacement of electric and communication cables by March, carried out by Korea Electric Power Corporation Gyeongnam Headquarters and individual communication companies, as soon as the road restoration work is finished in January.
Furthermore, by May, all cables installed on existing utility poles will be removed to complete the undergrounding work, and the entire project, including the removal of utility poles and restoration of sidewalk blocks, is expected to be finished by July.
A county official stated, “Due to the undergrounding construction, residents have experienced inconvenience in traffic, noise, and dust, causing accumulated fatigue. We will complete the project as soon as possible,” adding, “We will actively work to prevent safety accidents and minimize residents’ inconvenience until the completion of this project.”
Meanwhile, Hamyang-gun plans to create a pedestrian-centered, pleasant, and safe urban environment by narrowing lane widths and expanding sidewalks during road restoration in connection with this undergrounding project.
