Gwangjin-gu Holds 2024 New Year's Meeting... Proclaims 'Happier Gwangjin Growing Through More Communication' New Year's Address by Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin District

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) held the "2024 Gwangjin-gu New Year's Greeting Meeting" on the 16th at the Gwangjin-gu Office auditorium to welcome the Year of Gapjin.

The New Year's Greeting Meeting was organized to share greetings for the health and happiness of the residents and to communicate the development direction and vision of the district administration for 2024.

The event began with a pre-performance by the Gwangjin-gu Women's Choir, attended by about 500 guests including residents, the Mayor of Seoul, members of the National Assembly, and the Superintendent of Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education.

The dazzling "Laser Show" opening performance symbolizing a hopeful Gwangjin in the Year of Gapjin captured the audience's attention. Under the slogan "Listening More Attentively, Communicating More, and Developing a Happy Gwangjin," a video expressing the residents' New Year's wishes greatly elevated the atmosphere of the event.

Following this, Mayor Kim Kyung-ho presented the district administration vision for this year in his New Year's address. In his speech, Mayor Kim announced the district's goals and directions by sector, including ▲ balanced urban development considering local conditions ▲ warm welfare support embracing the vulnerable ▲ revitalization of the local economy and expansion of job support ▲ clean and safe urban environment ▲ cultural arts and community sports enjoyed by all.

The plans included urban development projects such as high-density development centered around station areas and expansion of parking lots, as well as initiatives to improve residents' convenience and daily life, such as a six-day-a-week garbage collection system, expansion of residents' life safety insurance, and installation of heated sidewalks on school routes.

The policy announcement by Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon also drew attention. A separate session lasting about 30 minutes was held to introduce the vision of "Seoul, a Special City of Companion Charm" and explain related projects, providing an opportunity for communication with the residents.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, "I thank all the residents who attended this meaningful event to share the district's goals and vision for the Year of Gapjin." He added, "We will continue to do our utmost to create a happy Gwangjin that listens more attentively and communicates more deeply in various ways."

Meanwhile, last year, the district made multifaceted efforts in various fields to achieve "a happy Gwangjin that develops through communication." Notable achievements included a first-grade rating in public institution integrity evaluation, receiving the Senior Welfare Award, an excellence award in disaster management evaluation, and the Youth-Friendly Legislative Award for communication.
