The 5·18 Democratic Movement Merit Association held an extraordinary general meeting and dismissed Chairman Jeong Seong-guk.
The public law organization 5·18 Democratic Movement Merit Association announced on the 16th that it held the 1st extraordinary central general meeting on the afternoon of the 13th at the 5·18 Education Center in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, and the motion of no confidence against Chairman Jeong was passed.
The reason was that he took unilateral actions under the name of the Merit Association without the approval of the board of directors.
Accordingly, Chairman Jeong was dismissed from his position, and Vice Chairman Shim Jeong-bo will act as the interim chairman.
In addition, four other executives of the Merit Association were also dismissed for the same reason.
Vice Chairman Shim said, "We plan to hold a regular central general meeting in February to elect the vacant positions such as chairman, auditor, and directors."
