The Nation's First Competition... 10,349 Participants Run in Miryang!
Miryang City in Gyeongnam announced on the 16th that it will hold the 20th Miryang Arirang Marathon, the first nationwide competition in Miryang, on February 25.
The event is hosted by Miryang City, organized by the Miryang City Athletics Federation, and sponsored by Gyeongsangnam-do and others.

This year’s event will also feature various activities commemorating Yeongnamnu Pavilion, which was re-designated from a treasure to a national treasure after 60 years and has returned close to the citizens.
The Miryang City Athletics Federation reported that as of the 10th, a total of 10,349 participants (7,533 men and 2,816 women) have registered. By category, 4,415 signed up for the half marathon, 3,979 for the 10 km, and 1,955 for the 5 km.
The oldest male participant is Seok Junsang (82 years old), residing in Miryang City, and the oldest female participant is Kim Youngja (80 years old), residing in Busan.
To celebrate the event and for the participants, a fan signing event will be held with Hwang Youngjo, the hero of Montjuic, and Lee Sangin, a talent and Miryang City ambassador.
Heo Dongsik, Deputy Mayor and Acting Mayor of Miryang, said, “With the largest number of marathoners ever participating in the 20th Miryang Arirang Marathon, the first nationwide competition of the Gapjin year, we will make thorough preparations to ensure a spectacular, distinctive, and safe premium event.”
