Reporting Safety Hazards through the Safe Report App to Prevent Local Risks and Create a Safe Environment
Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Su-hee) announced that it is recruiting new members for the "4th Gangdong-gu Safety Guardians," a program where residents directly participate to prevent dangers to themselves and their neighbors and raise awareness about the importance of safety culture.
Since its inception in 2015, the Gangdong-gu Safety Guardians have been organized into six teams conducting monthly safety inspections. They check key safety factors according to seasons and periods and carry out safety culture campaigns to promote the importance of safety culture.
Additionally, the Safety Guardians use the Safety Report app to discover and report safety hazards in daily life, working to eradicate negligent safety practices in everyday environments.
Until last year, the Safety Guardians identified and reported approximately 2,270 safety hazards such as defective roads and sidewalks and non-compliance with construction site safety regulations, helping to prevent risks for residents and contributing to the creation of a safer environment.
The newly recruited "4th Safety Guardians," totaling 44 members, include residents who: ▲ are familiar with Gangdong-gu and possess activity and expertise ▲ can use the Safety Report app under their own name ▲ are proficient in smartphone use including SNS ▲ reside in Gangdong-gu and can conduct safety inspections in their own neighborhood ▲ can participate in safety culture campaigns. Anyone meeting these criteria can apply.
The application period is from January 15 to 18. Residents wishing to apply can submit application documents via the Gangdong-gu Office website or email, or visit the Disaster Safety Division in person. The district office plans to notify applicants individually of the document screening results on the 24th, and newly selected Safety Guardians will begin activities on February 1.
Mayor Lee Su-hee stated, "We will strive to make Gangdong a safer city through the operation of Safety Guardians, who are residents familiar with the area and who directly discover and report hidden dangers in daily life within the community." She added, "We ask for much interest and support for the recruitment of the 4th Gangdong-gu Safety Guardians to prevent risks in daily life for ourselves and our neighbors and to create a safe environment."
