7 Locations Installed Around Bus Stops with High Foot Traffic, Operation Until Mid-March
Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Il-ha) announced on the 16th that it has installed 'Warmth Tents' throughout the area where residents can escape the cold.
The Warmth Tents are spaces designed to help residents avoid the cold while using public transportation or waiting for pedestrian signals at crosswalks during winter.
The district selected seven locations with heavy foot traffic around bus stops, including ▲Exit 2 of Noryangjin Station ▲Exit 2 of Soongsil University Station ▲in front of Hyosajeong in Heukseok-dong, and completed installation last month.
The Warmth Tents, which will operate until mid-March, measure 3 meters wide and 1.5 meters long, accommodating about 10 adults at the same time.
Additionally, the side panels of the tents are decorated as photo zones with various designs such as snowballs and angel wings, providing small sources of enjoyment.
During the operation period, the district has subscribed to liability insurance for public facilities to prepare for safety accidents and conducts daily inspections of all aspects of the Warmth Tents to ensure thorough safety management.
Furthermore, the district is expanding and operating various life-friendly facilities so that residents can spend a warm and safe winter.
Last month, windbreakers were installed at 52 shaded areas in 42 parks to help park visitors avoid the cold, and the number of heated seats at bus stops, which have high resident satisfaction, was expanded to 107 locations.
Also, six 'Dongjak-gu Smart Rest Areas' equipped with smart heating functions have been created to provide comfortable use according to weather changes.
Park Il-ha, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, said, “I hope the Warmth Tents become warm shelters that warm the bodies and minds of residents during winter,” and added, “We will continue to promote various policies so that residents can enjoy a safe and warm daily life.”
