The Fastest Progress Among Seoul City Sintong Planning Candidate Sites in Myeonmok 7 District, Jungnang-gu

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) has accelerated the redevelopment project of Myeonmok 7 District, a housing maintenance-type redevelopment project underway in the area of Myeonmokbon-dong 69-14, as it was officially designated as a maintenance district on the 11th of this month, becoming the first candidate site to be designated.

The area of Myeonmokbon-dong 69-14 was selected as Jungnang-gu’s first private redevelopment (Rapid Integrated Planning) candidate site in December 2021, and in December last year, it was conditionally approved by the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s ‘8th Urban Planning Committee Rapid Integrated Planning Maintenance Project and Authorization Subcommittee.’

This designation of Myeonmok 7 District as a maintenance district is the first among the 21 candidate sites for Seoul’s first phase of private redevelopment (Rapid Integrated Planning), showing the fastest progress. The required period has also been drastically reduced from over five years to two years through rapid integrated planning.

The maintenance plan has also been decided. The plan includes upgrading the zoning from Type 2 General Residential Area (including buildings up to 7 floors) to Type 3 General Residential Area, supplying up to 35 floors and a total of 1,447 households (including 379 rental housing units).

Additionally, public facilities such as parks and sports facilities will be created to enhance residents’ convenience.

Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi said, “The Myeonmok 7 District, Jungnang-gu’s first private redevelopment, is getting closer to transforming into a pleasant residential complex that will revitalize the area. Along with transportation development, we will continue to communicate with residents, gather their opinions, and work hard for the district’s development so that Jungnang-gu becomes the fastest developing autonomous district in Seoul.”

Jungnang-gu has the largest number of 23 housing development candidate sites selected by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, and its area is also the largest in Seoul. It is expected that 15,200 new apartment units can be supplied by 2026.
