Haenam-gun's 'Haenam Minam Festival' Selected as Jeollanam-do Representative Festival for 3 Consecutive Years

Exhibition Hall Showcasing 500 Years of Culinary History, Parade Featuring Direct Participation of Residents Receives High Praise

Haenam County's representative festival, the 'Haenam Minam Festival,' has been selected as a representative festival of Jeollanam-do for 2024.

According to the county on the 15th, Jeollanam-do selects 10 representative festivals annually through on-site evaluations and presentation assessments targeting 22 city and county representative festivals to foster excellent local festivals and strengthen competitiveness.

The Haenam Minam Festival received high scores for its exhibition of 100 story foods reflecting Haenam's 500-year culinary history and the operation of invitation tables, a parade of agricultural and marine products from towns and townships directly participated in by residents, food and snack halls selling various foods and local specialties, and efforts to industrialize by linking Haenam's traditional liquor with agricultural and marine products.

The festival, themed around various foods made from Haenam's abundant agricultural and marine products, has been held since 2019 in the Duryunsan Provincial Park area, and last year, it established itself as a representative festival with over 240,000 visitors in total.

County Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan said, "The Haenam Minam Festival being selected as a Jeonnam representative festival for three consecutive years is a recognition of the festival's growth potential once again," adding, "We will strive to spread Haenam's taste and charm nationwide through the festival."
