Changwon Special City Strengthens Quarantine Measures Following Detection of Highly Pathogenic AI in Wild Birds Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam has launched thorough quarantine measures to prevent the spread of avian influenza (AI).

The city has imposed movement restrictions on poultry farms within a 10 km radius and conducted emergency intensive disinfection around the detection site and Junam Reservoir using quarantine vehicles.

Additionally, two teams of joint disinfection vehicles are operating to support disinfection and monitor clinical symptoms at nearby poultry farms, ensuring thorough AI blocking quarantine measures.

On the 11th, AI (H5 type) antigen was also detected in wild bird droppings around Bukcheoncheon in Buk-myeon, and tests are underway to determine if it is highly pathogenic, highlighting the urgent need to strengthen AI quarantine management.

Kim Jong-haek, Director of the Agricultural Technology Center, stated, “AI continues to occur in other cities and provinces. Since it is a disease with high infectivity and mortality that causes significant damage to livestock farms, please ensure thorough disinfection and compliance with quarantine rules to prevent the spread of the avian influenza (AI) virus to poultry farms.”
