Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk announced on the 15th that it will officially implement the 'Moving-in Incentive Program' to respond to the decline in the local population and increase population inflow.
The moving-in incentive is designed to motivate residents who move to Gochang to settle in the area and support their livelihood stability.
Additionally, the incentive will be paid in Gochang Love Gift Certificates to also expect an effect of revitalizing the local economy.
The support targets are residents who move in after January 1, 2024, including moving-in household members, moving-in middle and high school students, moving-in soldiers, and moving-in merit institutions, organizations, and enterprises.
Moving-in household members will receive 150,000 KRW, moving-in soldiers 200,000 KRW, and moving-in merit institutions, organizations, and enterprises will receive support ranging from 500,000 KRW to 2,000,000 KRW depending on the moving-in performance.
Eligible applicants must have been registered residents in other cities, counties, or districts for more than one year, then moved to the county and resided at the address for more than six months.
In particular, moving-in middle and high school students who have been registered residents in other cities, counties, or districts for more than one year can apply immediately upon moving in, receiving 200,000 KRW for the first semester and 100,000 KRW for each subsequent grade.
Applications for payment can be made at the administrative welfare center of the resident's local eup or myeon after six months from the moving-in report or immediately (for moving-in middle and high school students). After verification of resident registration and residence, the support amount will be paid in Gochang Love Gift Certificates once confirmed as eligible.
A county official said, “This project was initiated to more actively promote the moving-in incentive policy. We will continue to actively encourage moving-in through support policies that residents can feel and do our best to increase the population.”
