According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 15th, the country will generally be clear, but due to the influence of high pressure moving southeast from northern China, morning temperatures will drop significantly, with morning lows ranging from -13 to 0 degrees Celsius and daytime highs between 0 and 9 degrees Celsius. On the following day, the 16th, the influence of high pressure will continue, with morning lows of -13 to 0 degrees Celsius and daytime highs of 2 to 10 degrees Celsius expected.
From the 17th, clouds will increase nationwide along the edge of the high-pressure system, but temperatures will gradually rise, with morning temperatures between -7 and 4 degrees Celsius and daytime temperatures ranging from 3 to 12 degrees Celsius, indicating a slight easing of the cold. From the 18th until the 20th, which marks Daehan (大寒) in the solar terms, rain will mainly fall in the southern regions and Jeju Island, and Gangwon Yeongdong will see rain or snow. During this period, morning temperatures are forecasted to be between -2 and 8 degrees Celsius, with daytime temperatures ranging from 3 to 12 degrees Celsius.
On Sunday, the 21st, the country will occasionally be cloudy as it lies on the edge of the high-pressure system.
Overall, this week’s morning minimum temperatures are expected to range widely from -13 to 9 degrees Celsius, and daytime maximum temperatures will vary between -2 and 12 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperatures in major areas are expected as follows: Seoul -7 to 2 degrees Celsius, Incheon -7 to 2 degrees Celsius, Chuncheon -9 to 0 degrees Celsius, Daejeon -7 to 4 degrees Celsius, Gwangju -4 to 6 degrees Celsius, Daegu -5 to 4 degrees Celsius, and Busan 0 to 8 degrees Celsius. Maximum temperatures are forecasted to be Seoul 1 to 8 degrees Celsius, Incheon -1 to 7 degrees Celsius, Chuncheon 1 to 8 degrees Celsius, Daejeon 1 to 7 degrees Celsius, Gwangju 4 to 10 degrees Celsius, Daegu 5 to 7 degrees Celsius, and Busan 8 to 12 degrees Celsius.
