On the 12th, Icheon City announced that on the 10th, it began operating a hub-type Mobile Workers' Rest Area at 107 Junglicheon-ro near the intercity bus terminal, and a simple-type Mobile Workers' Rest Area at Bubal Comprehensive Stadium in Muchon-ri, Bubal-eup.
The Mobile Workers' Rest Area is a project promoted as a campaign pledge of the 8th local government administration to improve welfare for mobile workers such as designated drivers, delivery workers, freight drivers, private tutors, and caregivers who have been working in poor conditions without proper rest spaces.
The city explained that the hub-type rest area was established near the intercity bus terminal, where transportation is convenient and commercial and convenience facilities are concentrated, considering accessibility. The simple rest area utilizes Bubal Comprehensive Stadium, where large logistics warehouses are concentrated and large freight vehicles can be parked.
The rest areas are equipped with convenience facilities such as heating and cooling systems, internet, PCs, TVs, massage chairs, blood pressure monitors, and water purifiers. For user security and safety, CCTV has been installed, and a security system requiring phone-based access authentication is also in place. The rest areas operate 24 hours a day, excluding national holidays.
A city official stated, "We plan to actively reflect the opinions of mobile workers in the future and further develop the rest areas into complex cultural community spaces."
