On the 10th (local time), the first sister city agreement in the Americas was signed, expanding international exchange cities
Mutual cooperation in various fields such as economy, culture, and education to be promoted... District Mayor Park Jun-hee announced the establishment of a specialized support agency for small and medium venture businesses, the first among autonomous districts, on the main stage of the Seoul Integrated Pavilion at CES 2024
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) signed a friendship exchange agreement with the city of Fullerton, USA, on the 10th (local time).
The district and Fullerton established ties starting with a visit by the Gwanak-gu delegation to Fullerton in July last year. Since then, to promote smooth exchange and cooperation projects, the Fullerton delegation also visited the district, and after several rounds of working-level consultations, this friendship exchange agreement was concluded.
The agreement was made in the United States with officials from both institutions attending, including Gwanak-gu Mayor Park Jun-hee, Fullerton Deputy Mayor Fred Jung, and Vice President Oh Se-jin of the Los Angeles World Korean Trade Association.
Through this agreement, the two cities agreed to promote exchange and cooperation in various common areas of interest such as economy, culture, and education, and to build a mutually progressive relationship.
Fullerton is a city located in Orange County, California, adjacent to the Long Beach Port and Los Angeles International Airport, with well-developed distribution and logistics.
In particular, it is an educational hub city with a high level of public education, including the California State University campus and other state universities concentrated in the area, sharing many commonalities with Gwanak-gu, which is striving to blossom as a “premier education and cultural city.”
With this agreement, the district has achieved the milestone of signing its first friendship exchange agreement with a city in the Americas region. Going forward, the district plans to do its best to expand international exchange cities.
Mayor Park Jun-hee of Gwanak-gu said, “I am very pleased to be able to sign this friendship agreement based on mutual respect and trust,” and added, “I hope the two cities will develop an even closer relationship and engage in active exchanges and cooperation.”
During his business trip to the United States, Mayor Park Jun-hee attended CES 2024, the International Consumer Electronics Show hosted by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA).
At the main stage of the Seoul Integrated Pavilion at CES 2024, Mayor Park widely promoted the future vision of Gwanak S Valley, a key project of the district, including ▲ the establishment of the first specialized support institution for small and medium venture businesses in an autonomous district ▲ attracting 1,000 venture companies by 2026 ▲ creating 6,400 jobs worldwide.
