On the 9th, an online community and social media posts titled "I was getting an IV drip, and the hospital closed" were shared. The author, Mr. A, who visited the hospital to receive an IV drip due to the flu, explained, "I was supposed to receive the IV for about 30 to 40 minutes, but the nurse forgot about me and left for the day, and the hospital closed." He added, "The IV room lights were turned off, so it was pitch dark, and I didn’t even realize the hospital had closed. I ended up having the IV needle in for over an hour, causing blood to flow backward." Mr. A also mentioned that because of the blood backflow, he had to remove the IV needle himself.
Mr. A said, "I called a nearby dental clinic of the same brand and barely explained the situation to get out," and criticized, "I don’t understand how they could think of leaving a patient behind and going home. It’s so irresponsible that it’s unbelievable." Afterwards, the hospital reportedly apologized to Mr. A and provided a free re-prescription for the IV treatment.
In a follow-up post, Mr. A said, "When I was getting the IV again, maybe because of that incident, the nurse kept coming in and out of the IV room," and added, "Since I wasn’t left unattended for a very long time, I’m trying to let it go peacefully."
Netizens who read the story responded with comments such as, "It’s a relief that proper compensation was received," "It must have been very scary, but it seems like you handled it calmly," and "What an absurd story. If I were in that situation, I probably wouldn’t have been able to react at all."
Many netizens also shared similar experiences. Netizen B said, "A few years ago, before an important exam, I felt very unwell and went to a local clinic to get an IV drip. I fell asleep for a while, and when I woke up, all the lights were off, which startled me. I hurriedly got up and shouted, 'Is anyone there?' but no one answered, so I was very anxious. I called the police and was safely rescued, but I will never go back to that clinic," they recalled.
Another netizen, C, shared, "A few days ago, I went to an oriental medicine clinic for acupuncture and briefly fell asleep. When I woke up, everyone except me had gone out for lunch. They returned after lunch and were all surprised to see me. They awkwardly removed the needles from my legs, and I wasn’t sure whether to be angry or not," recounting their experience.
