Gwangju Nam-gu, Intensive Crackdown on Absolutely No Illegal Parking Zones

Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, will conduct intensive crackdowns until the end of January to prevent traffic flow disruption and traffic accidents caused by illegal parking and stopping, and to secure passage for emergency vehicles.

Gwangju Nam-gu, Intensive Crackdown on Absolutely No Illegal Parking Zones

According to Nam-gu on the 11th, this crackdown will focus on six areas where parking and stopping are absolutely prohibited.

The six absolutely no parking and stopping locations include within 5 meters of fire hydrants, within 5 meters of intersection corners, within 10 meters of bus stops, crosswalks, children's protection zones in front of elementary school main gates, and sidewalks.

Nam-gu will implement guidance-oriented enforcement to establish a proper parking and stopping culture.

However, drivers who do not comply with vehicle relocation measures will be subject to fines and their vehicles will be towed.

In addition, to minimize residents' inconvenience caused by illegal parking this year, Nam-gu plans to conduct frequent guidance and crackdowns.

In particular, enforcement will be concentrated during commuting hours and in areas with frequent complaints.

However, considering the economic downturn and the contraction of the local economy, flexible enforcement will be applied to small restaurants, beauty salons, and traditional markets.

Furthermore, to improve traffic safety and order awareness through on-site participation, an illegal parking and stopping crackdown observation system involving civic groups and residents will be held every Thursday and Saturday throughout the year.

A Nam-gu official stated, "Active cooperation from vehicle drivers is necessary for raising awareness about parking and stopping and establishing traffic order."
