Accumulating Group Meal Information Such as Menus and Ingredients
Datafication of Nutritionists' and Cooks' Know-How
"Securing Growth Engines by Shaping Future Group Meal Models"
CJ Freshway announced on the 11th that it has newly established a menu management system to strengthen its group meal data capabilities. The strategy is to accumulate vast amounts of group meal-related information such as menus and ingredients as data, and utilize this to shape the future group meal model.
Since declaring its Digital Transformation in 2021, CJ Freshway has been striving to establish a data management system. Last year, it built a customer relationship management system and a data portal site to promote data-driven work, and developed a data-related education curriculum for employees. This year, starting with the menu management system, it plans to carry out various digital transformation projects.
The newly introduced menu management system is designed with community functions to easily share know-how related to group meal operations. It aims to digitize the expertise held by key personnel in the group meal industry, such as nutritionists and cooks, and to create effects of work automation and productivity improvement. Furthermore, the goal is to drive data-based menu and service innovation to provide differentiated customer experiences.
The main roles of the system are ▲menu data assetization ▲work efficiency improvement ▲interactive communication. First, to efficiently collect menu data, data standardization was carried out so that anyone can easily find information. Each store manager can search and input menus through the system, and also share and process content registered by others. Through this process, high-quality data will be accumulated and analysis for future customer-tailored menu development will be conducted.
Functions to create an efficient work environment have also been significantly added. Considering user convenience, an intuitive UI and UX similar to a portal site were applied. Data necessary for on-site operations, such as real-time menu and meal usage status by store, can be checked at a glance through the dashboard screen. Additionally, tasks requiring manual work such as meal planning, ingredient ordering, water management, and checking cooking manuals are organized into an integrated screen to simplify procedures.
Community functions such as know-how sharing and Q&A are also incorporated to facilitate smooth communication between headquarters and field sites. For example, new menu proposals and evaluations can be conducted within the system to quickly share opinions. This encourages menu development and dissemination aligned with market trend changes and customer demands.
A CJ Freshway official stated, “With the strengthening of IT infrastructure such as the menu management system and the increased level of internal data utilization, a ‘data-driven’ decision-making structure is being established,” adding, “Ultimately, the goal is to secure new business opportunities and future growth engines through company-wide enhancement of data capabilities.”
