Completed Basic Plan for GTX Sangbong Station Complex Transfer Center... Future-Oriented Complex Transfer Center with 19 Above-Ground Floors and a Total Floor Area of 218,539m²... Integration of Urban Air Mobility (UAM), GTX, KTX, Subway, Bus, and Other Transport Modes Expected to Drive Regional Economic Development
The basic plan (draft) for the GTX (Greater Seoul Metropolitan Area Express Train) Sangbong Station Complex Transfer Center in Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) has been completed, marking the first step toward the construction of a future-oriented complex transfer center.
The Sangbong-Mangwoo Station, where the GTX Sangbong Station Complex Transfer Center will be located, is a transportation hub with concentrated transfer demand for KTX (Korea Train Express), Subway Line 7, Gyeongui-Jungang Line, Gyeongchun Line, and trunk buses.
The district aims to transform this area into a future-oriented complex transfer center and develop it as a central hub for metropolitan transportation.
Sangbong-Mangwoo Station was included in the GTX-B line, which passed the preliminary feasibility study in 2019. Subsequently, in 2021, it was reflected in the 3rd basic plan for the establishment of transfer centers and complex transfer centers, laying the foundation for the establishment of the GTX Sangbong Station Complex Transfer Center basic plan.
Furthermore, to establish the basic plan, the district formed a consultative body over the past two years with various related organizations such as the Metropolitan Transport Corporation, Korea Rail Network Authority, Korea Railroad Corporation, and Seoul City, conducting continuous consultations and advice to ensure smooth progress.
The GTX Sangbong Station Complex Transfer Center will be a building with up to 19 floors above ground and a total floor area of 218,539 square meters.
The basic plan (draft) includes various facilities such as ▲ urban air mobility (UAM) and large-scale commercial facilities to be built above the railway, ▲ public transportation (trunk bus) transfer facilities to be located underground along Mangwoo-ro, and ▲ rental housing to be constructed on the site of the Mangwoo Station KTX transfer parking lot.
Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi said, “With the construction of the GTX Sangbong Station Complex Transfer Center, Jungnang-gu is expected to establish itself as a metropolitan transportation hub encompassing Seoul and the metropolitan area,” adding, “We will proceed without any setbacks to significantly enhance the functions as a transportation hub and to drive regional economic development.”
