Jeonbuk Province Joins Forces with Renewable Energy Innovation Infrastructure Institutions

On the 10th, Meeting on 'Infrastructure Facility Development Plans' Held in Jeonbuk Region

Jeonbuk Province has taken swift steps to establish plans for fostering the renewable energy industry and creating an ecosystem.

On the 10th, according to the province, related organizations for each of the eight facilities involved in the Jeonbuk regional renewable energy industry innovation infrastructure construction project gathered at the Jeonbuk Technopark conference room to discuss development plans linked with the provincial industry.

At the meeting, the current status of the core infrastructure construction facilities, issues encountered during project execution, countermeasures, and plans to expand linkage with local industries were presented and discussed. They also seriously considered effective plans for fostering the renewable energy industry in Jeonbuk going forward.

The linkage plans with local industries proposed at the meeting will be concretized and reflected in attracting companies and national commercialization projects.

Among the renewable energy innovation infrastructure construction projects underway in the Jeonbuk region, three facilities?the Floating Solar Photovoltaic Comprehensive Evaluation Center, Polymer Fuel Cell Reliability Evaluation Center, and Energy Industry Convergence Complex Comprehensive Support Center?were completed last year and have been fully operational since this year.

The Floating Solar Photovoltaic Comprehensive Evaluation Center is promoting business diversification by adding building-integrated photovoltaic module testing and certification evaluations due to the domestic related business downturn, and plans to support the activities of local solar energy companies through performance testing and evaluation.

The Polymer Fuel Cell Reliability Evaluation Center is advancing a prototype stack development project using smart engineering and plans to focus support on local hydrogen companies through the establishment of the fuel cell reliability evaluation center.

The Energy Industry Convergence Complex Comprehensive Support Center performs comprehensive support functions such as establishing regional energy promotion policies, discovering large-scale new projects, and fostering and supporting energy-specialized companies.

This year, three facilities?the Offshore Wind Power Industry Support Center, Hydrogen Product Inspection Support Center, and Wind Power Core Materials and Components Comprehensive Testing Base Center?will be completed, and next year, two facilities?the National Renewable Energy Comprehensive Demonstration Research Complex and the Renewable Energy-linked ESS Safety Evaluation Center?will be completed.

These institutions will serve as hubs for Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province’s renewable energy industry across various fields including wind power, hydrogen, distributed energy, and energy storage.

Lee Jong-hoon, Director of the Energy and Hydrogen Industry Division, said, "We will create an ecosystem that fosters the renewable energy industry by strengthening cooperative relationships with renewable energy innovation infrastructure institutions," adding, "We will accelerate the establishment of a renewable energy cluster and do our best to lead the renewable energy industry market in the province."
