On the 10th, the 5·18 Memorial Foundation announced that it had reported reporter A from an online newspaper to the Gwangju Police Agency on charges of violating the Special Act on the May 18 Democratic Uprising, specifically for prohibiting the dissemination of false information.
The complaint stated that from June to December of last year, reporter A published a total of 28 special articles titled "Seeking the Truth of May 18," which distorted and defamed the May 18 Gwangju Democratic Uprising by including claims such as "North Korea infiltrated and intervened in Gwangju," and "some North Korean soldiers active in Gwangju returned to North Korea and held high-ranking positions."
Meanwhile, the article caused controversy when Heo Sik, chairman of the Incheon City Council, distributed it to fellow council members on the 2nd.
