40s Woman Who Stalked 'Bi and Kim Tae-hee Couple' Sentenced to 6 Months in Prison

A woman in her 40s who was charged with stalking singer and actor Rain (real name Jung Ji-hoon) and actress Kim Tae-hee has been sentenced to prison in the first trial.

On the 10th, Judge Kang Young-gi of the Seoul Western District Court Criminal Division 9 sentenced A (49), who was indicted for violating the Stalking Punishment Act, to six months in prison and ordered her to complete a 40-hour stalking treatment program.

Judge Kang stated, "The defendant is a first-time offender and does not appear to have intended to harm or harass the victims," but added, "The crime of stalking the victims continuously and repeatedly is of a serious nature."

He continued, "It seems the defendant committed the crime in a state of diminished mental capacity," and explained the sentencing by saying, "Considering that appropriate treatment for the defendant is difficult, there is a significant risk of reoffending."

A visited the home of Rain and Kim Tae-hee in Itaewon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, 14 times from March to October 2021, ringing the doorbell and receiving three warnings for violating the Minor Offenses Act.

However, in February of the following year, she again visited the couple's home and rang the doorbell, and in April of the same year, she was accused of stalking by visiting the hair salon used by the couple.

In the sentencing hearing held last month, the prosecution requested a one-year prison sentence, considering that A's crimes were continuously repeated and caused great anxiety to the victims.
