Dongjak-gu, Caring for Child and Adolescent Health

Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Il-ha) announced that it will provide free health checkups for children using local children's centers and child care facilities until the 27th of next month.

This health checkup program was established to help children using local child welfare facilities detect and prevent diseases early and to promote healthy growth and development.

The district is conducting customized free checkups for 330 children from 15 facilities, including local children's centers in the district that made prior reservations, at the health examination room on the 1st floor of Dongjak-gu Public Health Center (42 Jangseungbaegi-ro 10-gil).

Children who miss the checkup can apply for an additional examination during this summer vacation, and any inquiries regarding the free health checkup can be directed to the Health and Medical Affairs Division (820-9643).

The examination items include ▲basic tests (height, weight, vision, etc.) ▲chest X-ray ▲blood test ▲urine test, among others.

Last year, the district supported free health checkups for a total of 428 children from 25 locations, including local children's centers, during the summer and winter vacations to provide health management services.

Additionally, in connection with the free health checkups, the district also conducts experiential drug and substance abuse prevention education, including role-playing activities where adolescents learn how to refuse offers of drugs and substances from their surroundings.

As youth drug issues have emerged as a serious social problem, this program is expected to raise awareness about drug exposure and help adolescents develop the ability to cope with various situations.

Park Il-ha, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, said, “I hope children and adolescents grow healthily through this free health checkup and drug and substance abuse prevention education,” and added, “We will continue to promote various projects to create a healthy and happy city for all residents.”
