Governor Hwang said, "I hope the new year, opened with good news and excited hearts, will be special," adding, "I wish this hometown visit will strengthen the internal bond with Muju-gun and bring bright smiles to each family."
Ryu Young (48, female, China) said, "It has been 14 years since I got married and came to Korea, and due to COVID-19, I haven't been able to visit my hometown for 7 years. I am very happy to start this year with a hometown visit and hope everything I do goes well."
Meanwhile, the Muju-gun Multicultural Family Hometown Visit Support Project provides families who have not been able to visit their hometowns for a long time with the opportunity to visit their home countries, helping them settle stably in Korea and build happy families.
This year, the announcement period was expanded from March to December of last year to allow visits during the winter vacation of the families' children and the hometown holiday periods of marriage immigrants.
The reception office was changed from the county office to the Family Center to enable concurrent multicultural family counseling and case management. Convenience was provided by posting announcements in various languages such as Vietnamese and Cambodian, which received positive responses.
Selected multicultural families (marriage immigrants, spouses, children, and parents-in-law) for the hometown visit project can visit their home countries at their desired time, stay for about 7 to 30 days, and then return to Korea.
The support fund covers airfare, insurance, and other expenses up to 5 million KRW per household. Accompanying children are supported without limit on the number of people.
