Songpa-gu (District Mayor Seo Gang-seok) raised the heavy snow crisis alert level to ‘Caution’ and, in preparation for heavy snowfall, inspected snow removal sites and snow removal forward bases on the 9th, putting all efforts into ensuring residents' safety.
Following the Korea Meteorological Administration's forecast of heavy snow centered around the Seoul metropolitan area, the district activated emergency duty level 2 from 9 a.m. on the 9th and took preemptive measures.
In particular, Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, personally visited the area near Jamsil Station and the snow removal forward base on the 9th to check the status of snow removal preparations.
Mayor Seo said, “To protect residents' safety from natural disasters, thorough prior inspections and preparations are the only answer. We will do our best to minimize residents' damage through prompt response.”
First, at 5 p.m. on the same day, to prevent confusion caused by snow on residents' commuting routes, he visited the snow removal site near Jamsil Station, where the local floating population is the highest, to check the progress of snow removal measures.
Next, he visited the snow removal forward base located at Tancheon Parking Lot, carefully checking the management status of snow removal equipment such as snow removal trucks and spreaders, and encouraged the hard work of on-site staff.
As of 5 p.m. on the 9th, following the emergency duty level 2 declaration, the district deployed ▲18 snow removal vehicles including dump trucks ▲89 snow removal equipment such as excavators, spreaders, and blowers ▲and 421 emergency response personnel to minimize residents' damage.
In addition, the district has been operating a snow removal countermeasure period from November last year until March 15, 2024, ensuring residents' safety perfectly.
