Anseong-si announced on the 9th that H5-type AI antigen was detected at a layer hen farm in Iljuk-myeon on the 8th. The city is currently testing to determine whether it is highly pathogenic AI.

Since the first outbreak of highly pathogenic AI at a duck farm in Goheung, Jeollanam-do on December 3 last year, a total of 27 cases have occurred up to the 5th of this month at a layer hen farm in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do. This is the first time highly pathogenic AI has occurred in Anseong.

The city immediately deployed an initial response team to control access to the farm and announced that it will carry out emergency preventive culling of all 260,000 layer hens being raised at the farm. The city added that a quarantine post has been set up at the farm entrance for emergency control, and concentrated disinfection is being conducted using quarantine vehicles.

However, since there are no other poultry farms within a 500m radius, no additional culling will be carried out.

The city explained that to detect infected livestock, emergency surveillance is being conducted by dedicated officials at all 57 poultry farms currently raising birds.

A city official said, "We will thoroughly implement blocking quarantine measures by mobilizing all possible personnel and resources to prevent further spread of the disease," and urged, "If any suspicious symptoms are found in poultry being raised, please report immediately to the quarantine authorities."
