Mayor Park Hyung-jun, "Promoting Yongho Port Redevelopment Project, Providing Waterfront and Leisure Spaces"
On the 9th at 10 a.m., Busan City will sign a 'Memorandum of Understanding for the Prompt Promotion of the Yongho Pier Port Redevelopment Project' with Nam-gu (District Mayor Oh Eun-taek) at the City Hall International Protocol Room.
The 'Marine Cultural Tourism District Development Project' is a project aimed at maximizing the strengths of the marine city image by establishing a marine cultural tourism plan that utilizes the coastal scenery of the Igidae area and the regional characteristics of Yongho Bay, and creating a tourist city where nature, tourism, and culture harmonize through the introduction of artistic and cultural content.
This agreement was prepared to promise mutual cooperation between the two institutions for administrative support to build local consensus and promote the project of the 'Yongho Pier Port Redevelopment Project,' which is being carried out as part of the 'Marine Cultural Tourism District Development.'
Since the collision accident of a Russian cargo ship with the Gwangandaegyo Bridge in February 2019, Yongho Pier, which has been closed and temporarily opened as Yongho Starlight Park, and the privately owned park left idle due to the suspension of the marine cable car project, have continuously raised the need to establish utilization plans.
The city judged that conditions have matured due to petitions from apartment residents in the Yongho Bay area, local National Assembly members, city councilors, and district councilors for the introduction of landmark facilities, and thus signed this memorandum of understanding to promptly promote the project.
Mayor Park Hyung-joon and Nam-gu District Mayor Oh Eun-taek will attend the signing ceremony in person and sign the memorandum of understanding.
Once the agreement is signed, ▲ Busan City will provide administrative support including consultation and mediation with administrative agencies for the implementation of the Yongho Pier Port Redevelopment Project ▲ Nam-gu, Busan City will facilitate consensus building within the local community, coordinate civil complaints related to the project, and conduct business consultations and administrative support such as processing permits for the introduced facilities.
Mayor Park Hyung-joon stated, “Taking this agreement as an opportunity, we will cooperate with Nam-gu to promptly promote the Yongho Pier Port Redevelopment Project and do our best to provide the Yongho Bay area as a high-quality waterfront and leisure space for citizens and domestic and international tourists.”
