Daboseong Gallery 'Chinese Cultural Heritage Online Auction'
Total 49 Items Exhibited, Until 18th
From a Biyunho with a Yeoui on an elephant's back to white porcelain depicting armed figures. A variety of Chinese cultural heritage items are being auctioned. Daboseong Gallery will hold the 3rd Chinese Cultural Heritage Online Auction from the 11th to the 18th.
This auction features 49 pieces of Chinese antiques, including the 'Yuli Hongyeonji Eomoseo Susai Gwan' from the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties, 'Ming Jiajing Blue-and-White Perch Pattern Covered Vase,' 'Qing Guangxu Bamboo Pattern Inkstone,' 'Qing Carved Ivory Statue,' and 'Qing Dragon Pattern Biyunho.'
The 'Yuli Hongyeonji Eomoseo Susai Gwan,' estimated at 10 to 20 million KRW, is a blue-and-white porcelain vase with a dignified volume featuring a glass red pattern. The front of the body is filled with overlapping wave-like scale patterns, and around the large carp, red lotus flowers and water plant leaves are depicted.
The 'Ming Jiajing Blue-and-White Perch Pattern Covered Vase' is a dignified blue-and-white vase with a lotus-bud-shaped lid. The lid and body are decorated with a pond scene featuring perch among lotus leaves and water plants. Daboseong Gallery explains that the perch, called Gweol-eo (?魚), is a homophone of 'gweol' in 'gung-gweol' (palace), symbolizing advancement in rank, the palace, and the king. The neck bears a mark reading 'Daemyeong Gajing Nyeonje (大明嘉靖年製),' indicating it was made during the reign of Ming Jiajing Emperor (1522?1566). It is estimated to fetch 20 to 30 million KRW and is looking for a new owner.
The auction items will be exhibited on the 4th floor of Daboseong Gallery during the auction period and can be viewed free of charge.
Previously, at the 2nd Chinese Cultural Heritage Auction held last November, 21 out of 40 items were sold, achieving a bid rate of 52.5%. Sold items included a finely carved ivory cup with a pond landscape, a powder-colored landscape bottle by painter Zhang Zhitang, and a blue-and-white incense burner with a delicate translucent hue.
Since its founding in 1983, Daboseong Gallery has collected important cultural heritage items for 40 years and has supplied them to national and public museums as well as leading private museums in Korea.
