Support for Village Community Activities Including Village Project Consultation and Consulting, 'Nowon Agora' Leadership Activities
Up to 10 Nowon-gu Residents with Competence in Village Community Field
Recruitment from January 10 to January 23, 2024, Final Selection Announcement on February 8
Nowon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it is recruiting 'Nowon-gu Village Activity Supporters' who discover resident groups through village communities and help residents grow.
Nowon-gu Village Activity Supporters share their experience and knowledge of village activities and support village residents' gatherings. This is to spread a sustainable village community culture through residents' voluntary participation rather than government-led activities.
The recruitment for Village Activity Supporters will take place from January 10 to January 23, 2024. After the first document screening and the second interview screening, the final successful candidates will be notified individually by phone and announced on the website on February 8. The number of recruits is up to 10, and applicants must be residents of Nowon-gu or have their actual living area in Nowon-gu.
Village Activity Supporters will support residents through activities such as ▲consultation and consulting for applicants of village community public projects ▲support for regional meetings ▲space revitalization projects.
First, they will provide consultation to applicants of village community public projects and offer consulting to those selected for the projects. Through consulting, they also assist with the project direction and accounting checks.
Additionally, by acting as leaders in the ‘Nowon Agora,’ which operates regional meetings once a month, they share projects and events with residents and exchange opinions to support the formation and expansion of residents' relationships.
In particular, they operate village community spaces, which are base spaces where resident communities can freely engage in activities and gather. Through this project, they support local meeting activities and linked projects that can create synergy through residents' solidarity. Among these, the ‘Onmaeul Nanumteo’ project helps realize social values within Nowon-gu through voluntary participation.
A, who became a Village Activity Supporter after being deeply impressed by the support received in the Nowon-gu village public project, said, “Unlike the past when I only worked on one project, participating as a Village Activity Supporter has increased my overall understanding of the village,” adding, “It is very rewarding to feel the changes and growth of the village created together with neighbors up close, and I have developed affection for the village.”
Meanwhile, the Village Activity Supporter program started together with the opening of the Nowon-gu Village Community Support Center in 2015. The Village Community Support Center supports ▲public project assistance ▲education project operation ▲formation and activities of resident networks. Last year, it held the Onmaeul Festival ‘Pumda,’ providing about 2,000 residents with various sights and entertainment and opportunities to experience village community activities.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, “Village community activities are the first step for residents to become the true owners of their neighborhood,” and added, “We ask for many applications from those who are passionate and can bring vitality to the village community.”
