The newly opened sports center was selected in 2019 for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's National Sports Center Construction Support Project, with a total investment of 5.7 billion KRW (1 billion KRW from the National Sports Fund, 4.3 billion KRW from the county budget, and 400 million KRW from special grants).
The facility is a one-story building with a total floor area of 975㎡. The indoor gymnasium is optimized for use with offices, shower rooms and restrooms, as well as fire safety, heating and cooling, and broadcasting equipment.
The construction of multipurpose sports centers in eight eup and myeon areas has been a key project promoted by Governor Kwon since the 7th local government term to revitalize community sports. This is the third center following Buan-eup and Julpo.
Governor Kwon Ik-hyun said, "The Haengan Multipurpose Sports Center will become a space where residents can enjoy various sports activities and cultural events," adding, "We will strive to create the best environment for all residents to enjoy community sports anytime and anywhere."
Meanwhile, the county plans to devote all efforts to building community sports infrastructure, including five multipurpose sports centers in eup and myeon areas under construction, an indoor tennis court, Food & Leisure bowling alley, Wido indoor gateball court, and indoor lawn bowling court.
