Imsil-gun Focuses Administrative Efforts on Realizing the 'Era of Ten Million Tourists'

Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, is focusing all its administrative power to realize the era of ten million tourists visiting Imsil throughout the four seasons of the new year.


On the 8th, County Governor Sim Min presided over an expanded executive meeting at the Imsil Cheese Theme Park, which was selected as a Star of Korean Tourism, welcoming the 2024 Gapjin year, and said, “Let’s open a new future for Imsil tourism through definite change and innovation.”

At the expanded executive meeting held at the Appenzell Hall of Imsil Cheese Theme Park that day, Governor Sim Min urged, “This year as well, please lead dynamic county administration that brings changes and development that residents can feel firsthand.”


Governor Sim said, “According to the Korea Tourism Organization Data Lab, the number of visitors to Imsil-gun in 2023 was counted at 8.52 million, a 5.3% increase compared to 8.09 million the previous year,” and added, “I hope all employees pour their passion with one heart to realize the era of ten million tourists in Imsil as soon as possible.”


Accordingly, the county plans to accelerate the establishment of a premium tourism belt connecting Okjeongho area’s premium ecological tourism site, Imsil Cheese Theme Park, Osu World Famous Dog Theme Land, and Seongsusan·Saseondae healing tourist spots to realize the “Era of Ten Million Tourists in Imsil.”


The creation of the Okjeongho area premium ecological tourism site will be completed by finishing the Econuri Campus project, with plans to sell residential lodging facilities (21 lots, 7,815㎡) and private investment land (18,793㎡) within the first half of the year, while cable cars, zip lines, and other attractions will be developed through private investment.


Administrative efforts will also be focused on linked development with Jaraseom Island and the creation of the Okjeongho Water Mist Trail.


Imsil Cheese Theme Park will complete a European-style rose garden within the first half of the year to create the nation’s only four-season festival venue, enhance competitiveness through the establishment of the Imsil Cheese Village rural theme park, and build a large kids’ land at the Imsil Cheese Theme Park.


Furthermore, administrative procedures for the construction of Osu World Famous Dog Theme Land will be expedited to aim for early groundbreaking, and Seongsusan and Saseondae will be developed into healing tourist spots to make Imsil a place where people visit and stay.


Governor Sim instructed, “Regarding the special provisions for Jeonbuk Special Autonomous Province, prepare solid specialized strategies responding to each field such as the introduction of low-fat cattle for the advancement of the Imsil cheese industry and fostering the pet industry, the creation of a comprehensive tourist site in the Okjeongho area and activation of private investment, and the inflow and settlement of excellent overseas talent, and devise plans to actively reflect them in county administration.”


He continued, “As the year of the Blue Dragon, Gapjin year, dawns, we will strive to make Imsil vibrant throughout the four seasons by soaring into the era of ten million tourists in Imsil. We will not be complacent but devote ourselves wholeheartedly this year with a firm commitment to definite change and innovation.”
